Privacy policy

This blog is personal and non-commercial. It collects as little data as possible: no advertising, no selling of data. The only third-party service is Google Analytics audience measurement, and only if you accept it. YouTube videos are only loaded if you click on them.

The data collected
Comments
When you post a comment, we record your first name, your email address (never displayed), your message, your IP address and the type of browser used. This data is only used to display your comment, reply to you and fight unwanted comments. Your first comment is approved manually. No data is sent to an external service: the avatar shown is simply the initial of your first name.
Likes and number of reads
The “Like” button and the read counter use no account and no personal data: only a counter is stored on the article.
Audience measurement (Google Analytics)
If you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit, the site uses Google Analytics to find out how many people read it, which pages are viewed, where visitors come from (country, website or search engine) and what type of device they use. These statistics are anonymous for the publisher: they are only used to find out which stories interest you. No advertising, no cross-referencing with other data.
This service is provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Data may be transferred to the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Data is kept for a maximum of 14 months by Google. More information: Google’s privacy policy.
Without your consent, no Google script is loaded. You can change your mind at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page.
YouTube videos
Some stories contain a video hosted on YouTube. As long as you don’t click the play button, nothing is loaded from YouTube: the image shown is served by this site. When you click, the player is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn’t set advertising cookies before playback. YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) may then receive your IP address and information about your browser. More information: Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies
The site uses no advertising cookies. Only with your consent, it sets Google Analytics audience measurement cookies:
- _ga and _ga_…: distinguish visitors and visits anonymously (13 months maximum). They are deleted if you decline later.
It also sets technical cookies, which do not require your consent:
- oh_consent: remembers your choice (accept or decline audience measurement), so you aren’t asked again on every page (6 months).oh_liked_…: remembers that you liked an article, so it isn’t counted twice (1 year).oh_seen_…: avoids counting your reading of the same article several times (30 days).comment_author_…: if you tick the box on the form, remembers your first name and email for your next comments (1 year).
Retention period
Comments and the associated data are kept for as long as the comment is published. You can ask for them to be deleted at any time.
Data hosting
Data is stored on the publisher’s personal server, located in France. The typefaces, images and Instagram posts displayed are served from this same server. Only Google Analytics statistics, if you accept them, and the YouTube videos you play, go through Google.
Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, write to the contact address above. If, after contacting us, you feel your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), the French data protection authority.
